Chile and Argentina, December 2025 and January 2026

December in Chile means summer. I landed in Santiago with Ariel, my best friend, and we stayed there until 26 December. From above the city is easy to read: the Mapocho river running through it, Cerro San Cristóbal with its antennas, the Andes behind the haze.
Then the coast. In Algarrobo, on the Pacific, Trini and Fede were waiting for us, down from Mendoza. We had met them in Padua during their university exchange and hadn't seen them since June, so we decided to go and visit. Trini has a house in Algarrobo, and that is where Gabri, a dear friend who had flown in from Italy, joined us too. The path above the sea leads to Peñablanca, a huge rock turned white by seabirds, surrounded by cacti and dark rocks.
On 30 December we crossed the Andes by car to Mendoza, then Córdoba. Ariel went on ahead to see his grandmother, and the girls stayed in Córdoba. Gabri and I caught up with him in Buenos Aires, his city. From there we went down to the coast together, to San Bernardo del Tuyú, staying with some of his friends, and we spent the last days back in Buenos Aires.
