Morocco's oldest medina: wooden doors, tanneries, copper beaten by hand, bread carried on little girls' heads and the traffic racing outside the walls.

Inside the medina you walk slowly, because every doorway is a picture: a woman sitting in front of closed wooden doors, the coppersmith hammering an enormous pot, the tanneries seen from above with their vats of colour.
In the alleys life moves by hand: bread carried on the heads of little girls, tea poured from high up, the dried fruit seller behind his scales, a man crossing the street loaded with turkeys.
Outside the walls everything changes. The vehicles caught my eye: overloaded scooters, red petit taxis, tricycles. I was looking for the right moment, the one that tells the street as it is.
On the road, in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, the Barbary macaques let you come close.
